A. J. Balfour

A. J. Balfour (1848-1930), full name Arthur James Balfour, of Whittingehame, East Lothian, Scotland, was a British statesman and author of a "Defence of Philosophic Doubt" and a volume of "Essays and Addresses". He was educated at Eton and Cambridge. He was nephew of Lord Salisbury, and First Lord of the Treasury and leader of the House of Commons in Lord Salisbury's ministry.
