Aaron's beard

Aaron's beard refers to several plants, especially the Rose of Sharon.

This name has been given to the plants on account of their being putting out the long runners or because of the prominent hairy stamens.

The the term alludes to the biblical character Aaron, whose beard "went down to the skirts of his garments". It is written there in the Bible, Psalms 133:2.
