Abbot

Abbot is an ecclesiastical term that refers to the head of an abbey of monks. There were two classes of abbots: Abbots Regular and Abbots Commendatory. Abbot Regular is the man who is actually an Abbot. Abbot Commendatory is the man who serves as guardian and draws the revenues.
