Abd-ar-Rahman

Abd-ar-Rahman (891-961) was an Islamic ruler of Spanish Cordoba. He began his rule in Cordoba. He named himself caliph in 929. He was also known as Abd-al-Rahman. He created Islamic Spain in 912. He campaigned against the Fatimids and kings of Leon and Navarre and led the Umayyad emirate to the height of its power.
