Abd-ul-Medjid

Abd-ul-Medjid (1823-1861), also Abdulmejid I, was sultan of the Ottoman Empire who reigning from 1839 to 1861. He is known for modernising the Ottoman Empire, called Tanzimat reforms. He forged alliances with England and France and in alliance with them undertook the Crimean War against Russia fought between 1853 and 1856.
