ABDUL HAMID II

ABDUL HAMID II (1842-1918) was the last sultan of Turkey. He was an autocratic ruler. He became sultan in 1876 and remained a sultan untill 1909 when he was deposed after the revolt of the Young Turks.

He was brother to Abdul-Aziz, and his successor. Turkey suffered serious dismemberment under him, and the Christian subjects in Armenia and Crete been cruelly massacred.
