Ablutions

Ablusions is a ceremonial act of cleaning oneself by washing the whole body or part of it as specified in the scriptures or by the priests for becoming sacred before any worship or ritual is begun.

This word originally meant 'purification by using liquids' and was in much use in this sense in alchemy and chemistry during the mid 16th century.
