Abraham Demoivre
Abraham Demoivre (1667-1754), also Abraham de Moivre, was a French mathematician, born in Champagne. He lived most of his life in England to escape, as a Protestant, from persecution in France. He became a friend of Newton, and a Fellow of the Royal Society, and was of such eminence as a mathematician that he was asked to arbitrate between the claims of Newton and Leibnitz to the invention of fluxions.Nearby pages
