Abscissa

Abscissa, in biology, is a segment of a wing vein that is delimited by the intersection of other veins.

In mathematics, it is x-coordinate in a system of coordinates, the distance from a point to the vertical line known as y-axis. It is always measured parallel to the horizontal which means the x-axis.
