Abscond

Abscond is a legal term for leaving a place hurriedly and secretly by an offender, typically to avoid detection of the offense or arrest. When the offender goes underground or leave the area to avoid arrest, he is said to be absconding.

If someone is on bail and fails to produce oneself at the appointed time and place, usually a court, or if fails to surrender oneself for custody, is said to be absconding. Also, if a person escapes from judicial custody or any kind of legal detention, is said to be absconding.
