Abstract expressionism

Abstract expressionism is a movement in the field of abstract art that aims at subjective emotional expression with special emphasis on spontaneous act of creation, eg, action painting. The movement originated in the 1940s in New York, USA, especially in post–World War II era. Jackson Pollock and Willem de Kooning were the leading figures of this movement.
