ABYSSINIA

ABYSSINIA (now Ethiopia) was a mountainous country southeast of Nubia, with an area of 200,000 sq m. It was made up of independent states, and with a mixed population, the Abyssinians proper being of the Semite stock.

It was, at one time in late 19th century, practically under the protectorate of Italy.
