ACETYLENE

Acetylene (C2H2), also known as ethyne, is a malodorous gaseous substance that is used in welding. It was formerly used in lighting.

This hydrocarbon is obtained from the incomplete combustion of hydro-carbons. It is colourless and pungent smelling.
