ACHAEANS

ACHAEANS is the common name of the Greeks in the heroic or Homeric period. The protagonists in the famous epic Iliad of Homer were generally referred to as Achaeans who fought in the Trojan War.

The Achaeans were one of the earliest inhabitants of Greece. They were Greek-speaking people. They had established themselves in the ancient Greece well before 12th century BC.

There are scholars who identify them with the Mycenaeans of the 13th and 14th century BC.
