Achates

Achates, according to Greek and Roman mythology, was a companion of Aeneas in his wandering after the fall of Troy, remarkable for, and a perennial type of, fidelity.

The proverb fidus Achates or 'faithful Achates' originated from his exemplary loyalty to Aeneas.
