Adelaide Ristori

Adelaide Ristori (1822-1906) was a distinguished Italian tragédienne. She was one of a family of strolling players. Her career on the stage as an actress was a continuous triumph. The rôle in which she specially shone was that of Lady Macbeth. She was married in 1847 to the Marquis del Grillo, and is known as Marquise.
