Affluenza

Affluenza is a psychological term that refers to a mental disorder found generally in affluent young persons. It originates from excess of wealth, its blind pursuits, and consumerism.

A person suffering from this condition shows symptoms like lack of motivation, inability of feeling guilt and understanding the consequences of one's own actions, anxiety, and high emotional fluctuation.

Such a mental disorder is the result of placing a high value on money, possessions, appearances (physical and social) and fame, says British psychologist Oliver James.
