African buffalo

African buffalo is a buffalo native to Africa, especially the region lying south of the Sahara. It is also known as Syncerus caffer, and belongs to Bovidae family. It grows large horns on its head.

Two distinct kinds of African buffaloes are found, which are considered by many to be two species. These are Cape buffalo and Forest buffalo.

Forest buffalo is also known as Dwarf buffalo.
