Agony

Agony is a term that refers to an extreme suffering, both physical and mental.

There are three kinds of agonies according to traditional Indian philosophies.

1. that inflicted by other living beings
2. that proceeding from natural causes, and
3. that caused by bodily or mental distemper

These are summarized in three another names - Daihik (pertaining to body), Daivik (coming from unseen) and Bhautik (related to all other affairs of life).
