Akhenaten
Akhenaten, also spelled Akhenaton or Ikhnaton, the husband of Nefertiti, was an Egyptian pharaoh of the eighteenth dynasty who reigned between 1379 and 1362 BC. He came to the throne as Amenhotep IV but later changed his name after renouncing polytheism and introducing a monotheistic cult based on worship of the sun-disk, Aten.Thebes was his capital before it was moved to a newly built city named Akhetanen. His empire ultimately disintegrated.
