Alamelumanga Temple
Alamelumanga Temple is located at about 5 kilometres from Tirupati town of Andhra Pradesh in India. Alamelu Manga, literally inexhaustible source, is just another name for Padmavathi, and therefore, this temple is also known as Sri Padmavathi Ammavari Temple. Goddess Padmavathi was the consort of Lord Venketswara. The temple was constructed during the reign of King Thondaman Chakravarthy.
In the time past, people used to visit this temple first before visiting Sri Venkateswara Temple in Tirupati.
A tradition says that Padmavathi was the daughter of Akasha Raja of Thondamandalam. It is believed that he, after performing oblation to the Gods, had found a baby girl resting on a lotus. He named her Padmavathi. This girl went on to marry Lord Venkateswara.
