Alcestis
Alcestis, in Greek Mythology, was the wife of Admetus, king of Pherae in Thessaly. She gave herself up to death to save her husband. Admetus was saved, and she was sent by death to the world below after she died by consenting to die on behalf of her husband.Later, Hercules descended to the lower world and brought her back. She is the subject of one of the tragedies of Euripides.
