} is a toxic synthetic insecticide. It is a chlorinated polycyclic hydrocarbon.

This chemical is named after the German chemist Kurt Alder (1902-58) who is credited for its invention.

It had been in use as insecticide for a long period, however, its use has lately been discouraged, and is banned in several part of the globe.
