Aleph

Aleph is the name of the first letter of the Hebrew alphabet. The letter literally means 'ox'.

This character of the ancient Hebrew is also found in Phoenician.

Opinions are divided on its origin, however, a majority view suggests its possible origin from a hieroglyph of an ox's head.
