ALEXANDER III

ALEXANDER III (1845-1894) was tsar (emperor) of Russia who reigned during 1881-94. He was son of Alexander II (1818-81). He followed in the footsteps of his father, and showed a marked disposition to live on terms of peace with the other Powers; his reign not distinguished by any very remarkable event. The present Czar is his son and successor.
