Alexander Jannaeus
Alexander Jannaeus (127 BC - 76 BC) was the second of the Asmonæan kings of Judea. He reigned from 103 to 76 BC. He insulted the Jews by profaning the rites of their religion. It roused a hostility against him which was appeased only by his death. The news of his death was received by the Jews with expressions of triumphant exultation.Nearby pages
