Alexandre Brongniart

Alexandre Brongniart (1770-1847) was a French chemist and zoologist, born at Paris. He was director of the porcelain works at Sèvres. He was also an author of treatises on the ceramic arts and mineralogy, and known for reviving painting on glass. As zoologist, he was collaborateur with Cuvier, the French naturalist and zoologist, and introduced a new classification of reptiles.
