Alexis Clerel de Tocqueville
Alexis Clerel de Tocqueville (1805-1859), (Count) Alexis de Tocqueville in short, full name Alexis Charles Henri Clérel, comte de Tocqueville, was a French economist, aristocrat, diplomat, political scientist, political philosopher and historian, born at Verneuil, of an old Norman family, bred to the bar, and specially distinguished as the author of two works in high repute, "La Democratie en Amérique" and "L'Ancien Régime et la Révolution".
