ALHAMBRA

ALHAMBRA (Red Castle) or the Alhambra is an ancient fortified Moorish palace near Granada in Spain. It was the last stronghold of the Moorish kings of Granada.

It was founded by Muhammed II. in 1213, but actually built between 1248 and 1354. It was decorated with gorgeous arabesques by Usuf I. in 1345. The palace was erected on the crest of a hill which overlooks Granada; has suffered from neglect, bad usage, and earthquake.
