ALLEGHENY MOUNTAINS

ALLEGHENY MOUNTAINS, also known simply as Alleghenies, is a mountain range in the Appalachian system in the United States, extending from West Virginia through Pennsylvania to North Carolina. The mountains do not exceed 2400 ft. in height. They run parallel with the Atlantic coast, and form the watershed between the Atlantic rivers and the Mississippi.
