Alpha Centauri

Alpha Centauri is a term in astronomy for the third brightest star in the sky. It is also called Rigil Kentaurus.

This star is the part of the constellation Centaurus. It is the nearest bright star to our solar system which is located at a distance of 4.34 light years, and is a visual binary.

It is visible only to observers in the southern hemisphere.
