Alpine

Alpine is something of or relating to the Alps, a mountain system in Europe. However, this term is also used as an attribute for something of or relating to high mountains, anywhere in the world.

In geography, this term is also applied to the zone of vegetation where winter is severe, snowfall heavy, the mean annual temperature is under 45ºF and the mean January temperature below 30ºF. In India, alpine zone occurs in the Himalayas at altitudes above 3,030.3 m.
