Alto

Alto is a term in music for a range of sound or voice.

The musical instrument, or part of it above tenor and below the highest range producing such sounds are also called alto. Alto saxophone, alto flute are some of the examples. These instruments are typically pitched second or third highest.

As for human voice, it is the highest adult male singing level. The lowest adult female singing voice is called contralto.
