Amalric

Amalric (d. 1225), full name Arnaud Amalric, also Arnoldus Amalricus in Latin, was one of the leaders in the crusade against the Albigenses, who, when his followers asked him how they were to distinguish heretics from Catholics, answered, "Kill them all; God will know His own." He was a Cistercian abbot of Qteaux (1200-1212), known for encouraging Cistercian involvement in the Fourth Crusade (1202-1204).
