Ames test

Ames test is a term in medicine for a test that is conducted to see whether certain chemicals cause mutations in sample bacteria or not. This test helps in determining the mutagenic activity of chemicals.

This test is named after it inventor the American biochemist Bruce N Ames (b.1928) in the 1970s.
