Ammonoid

Ammonoid is a term in paleontology for, of or relating to an extinct cephalopod mollusk. It had a flat coiled spiral shell. Numerous families of ammonoid are commonly found in fossilized form in marine deposits, particularly from the Devonian to the Cretaceous periods. It belongs to the subclass Ammonoidea of the class Cephalopoda.
