Amniocentesis

Amniocentesis is a term in medicine for a process of sampling of amniotic fluid. In this process, a hollow needle is inserted into the uterus of the woman carrying foetus to take out sample by simply pricking the amnion. The purpose of this is to ascertain if there is any abnormality developing in the foetus.
