Amphetamine

Amphetamine is a synthetic drug. This name is the abbreviation of its chemical name, a(lpha-)m(ethyl)phe(ne)t(hyl)amine. It is chemically also known as 1-phenyl-2-aminopropane. One of its salts, especially amphetamine sulfate is also known by this name. Chemical formula of this drug is C6H5CH2CH(CH3)NH2. It is prescription drug to treat children with ADD and adults with narcolepsy. This mood -altering drug is addictive and therefore categorized as prescription drug. However, it is reported that this drug is illegally used as stimulant.
