Amphibrach

Amphibrach, literally 'short at both ends' in Greek, is a term in prosody for a metrical foot. In the languages in which syllable is more important than stress, such as Greek and Latin, such a metrical foot contains a long syllable in between two short syllables. However, in the languages in which stress is more important than syllable, such as in English, such a metrical arrangement contains a stressed syllable between two unstressed syllables.
