AMRITSAR

Amritsar is a city in the state of Punjab in India. It is considered a sacred city by the Sikhs and is the centre of the Sikh faith. The city is famous for its Golden Temple.

It was a great centre of trade in pre-independence era and was only second to Delhi in Northernn India. It was also a great manufacturer city for cashmere shawls. However, the situation has now been changed.
