Anandamide

Anandamide is a term in biochemistry for arachidonic acid derivative. It naturally occurs in some foods and mammalian brains. This term derives its name from the Sanskrit word ananda which means bliss.

It is an endogenous cannabinoid neurotransmitter which acts as a messenger molecule and has a role in pain, depression, appetite, memory, and fertility.
