Andalusia

Andalusia is a region located in the southernmost part of Spain watered by the Guadalquivir. The region borders on the Atlantic Ocean in the west and the Mediterranean Sea in the east. It is fertile in grains, fruits, and vines, and rich in minerals. Seville is its capital city. It is an autonomous region of Spain.

Andalusia has figured prominently in the history of Europe and the Mediterranean. It was under Moorish rule from 711 to 1492.

The Autonomous Community of Andalusia was formed in accord with a referendum of February 28, 1980 and became an autonomous community under the 1981 Statute of Automony, known as the Estatuto de Carmona. Andalusia is one of the 17 autonomous communities of Spain.
