Andromeda

Andromeda is an evergreen shrub. It belongs to the heath family and typically has clusters of small bell shaped flowers. There are two genera in the family Ericaceae. Several species of andromeda are found, including the bog rosemary of north temperate regions, and the Japanese andromeda.

The bog rosemary are of two types - Andromeda glaucophylla and Andromeda polifolia. The botanical name of the Japanese andromeda is Pieris japonica. It is widely cultivated as ornamental flower.
