Anemone

Anemone is a plant which typically bears brightly coloured flowers. It belongs to Genus - Anemone, and family - Ranunculaceae, popularly known as the buttercup family. Anemone in Greek literally means 'windflower' or the 'daughter of the wind'. Its flowers open only when the wind blows.

Anemones are found both in the wild and as garden plants. The North American wood anemone, botanical name 'anemone quinquefolia' is among its numerous species.
