Angora
Angora was a former name of
Ankara until 1930. The city was chosen by Kemal Atatürk as his seat of government in 1923. It had been a famous city in the centre of
Anatolia in a district noted for its silky, long-haired animals, cats and dogs as well as goats. The word angora is thus used as modifier, such as angora cat, or angora wool etc. Angora fabrics are made of the hair of angora goats or rabbits.
