Anil, according to Indian mythology, is one of the names of Vayu.

Shiva was his wife by whom he had two sons - Manojav and Avigyatgati.

The other Anil, according to Indian mythology, was son of Garud.

Anil, the demon

According to Ramayan, one Anil was a son of demon Mali by his wife Vasuda.

He was one of the ministers of Vibhishan.

He also worked as a spy for him by assuming form of a bird to known Ravan's strategy for the battle. He used to convey Vibhishan the latest information in the Ravan camp.
