Annan

Annan is a town in southwest Scotland on river Annan. It was a former royal burgh in Dumfries, historically Dumfriesshire. It is birthplace of Edward Irving, and where Carlyle was a schoolboy in Annan Academy, and at length mathematical schoolmaster.
