Antilles

Antilles is an archipelago curving round from North America to South America, and embracing the Caribbean Sea. This group of islands form the greater part of the West Indies. There are two Antilles, the Greater Antilles and the Lesser Antilles.

The Greater Antilles, on the North of the sea, extends roughly east to west comprising of Cuba, Hispaniola (Hayti and the Dominican Rebublic, Jamaica, and Puerto Rico. The Lesser Antilles, on the East, includes the Leeward Islands, the Windward Islands, and the Venezuelan Islands — the Leeward as far as Dominica, the Windward as far as Trinidad, and the Venezuelan along the coast of South America. Virgin islands, Barbados, and various small islands to the north of Venezuela are also parts of the Lesser Antilles.
