Antinode

Antinode is a term in physics for the position opposite of and farthest from the node in a standing wave system. The amplitude of the standing wave is maximum at antinode as against the node where amplitude is minimum. Antinodes occur midway between the nodes in a standing wave system, such as an vibrating guitar strings. Nodes are along the straight line between both the ends of a string, and when it is sounded the string vibrates forming a wave on which Antinodes are at farthest distance from this straight line.
