Antiseptic

Antiseptic is a term in medicine for a class of substances that are used, particularly in surgery, to prevent or arrest putrefaction. Antiseptic medical techniques are based on the use of antiseptic substance, compounds or preparations, and are used to prevent the growth of micro-organisms causing diseases. Anything of, relating to, or denoting such substances are also referred to as antiseptic.
